Every month we’ll profile a different member of the Carter team, giving you a little glimpse inside the personalities that make our company so robust and unique. This week we are getting to know: Monica Moss, Property Administrator. If you missed our last Inside Carter post, click here.
1. With unlimited funds, where would you go on your dream vacation?
As a former international flight attendant, I have been very fortunate to have traveled all over the world. I will say of all the places I have been, the one place I would love to have an extended stay is Italy. I would take some of those unlimited funds to really take in the culture, museums, arts, shopping (shoes & handbags), and most importantly the cuisine. I am smiling from ear to ear thinking about the homemade pastas, sauces, breads, wines, and my favorite gelato.
2. What is one of your favorite quotes?
“For I know the plans I have for you,“ declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.“ – Jeremiah 29:11. This is actually a bible verse and not really a quote, but my daughter and I quote it daily as part of our daily affirmations and assurances. It is definitely my favorite and a constant personal reminder.
3. What is your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
My favorite indoor activity is enjoying Friday Night Slumber Parties with my daughter Madison Grayce. After a long week of work and school, it brings me joy to grab a couple movies from the Red Box, order a pizza, grab some ice cream, make a big pallet in the middle of the floor and enjoy the innocent laughter of my 5 year old.
4. If you could have a superpower for one day, what would it be?
If I could have a superpower for one day, not only would I choose the superpower, I would also choose the day. I would have the Power of Flight on a Friday to fly high above Atlanta rush hour traffic. It takes super human control to deal with it each week.
5. What would you recommend someone do or see who has never been to Atlanta before?
Being and Atlanta native, “Grady Baby”, I would have to recommend Piedmont Park. I have so many memories there. I love attending all of the festivals, concerts, and just taking a day to bike ride and picnic.
6. If you could choose any career other than the one you have, what would it be?
I would probably be a firefighter for several reasons. I am a bit of a thrill seeker. I have always been impressed that they are running towards danger when everyone else is running in the opposite direction. I am very envious of their work schedule of 24 hours on and 48 hours off, which equates to working 8 or 9 days per month. I am a huge fan of uniforms and secretly I think I would be cute in the boots and suspenders.
7. If you could pick up one random skill or hobby, what would you choose?
It would have to be the ability to dance. I love to dance but I’m not very good at it. As a joke, my friends often suggest that I should dance to the rhythm and beat and not the “words” of a song.
8. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is working as a team member to accomplish a common goal. I am human enough to know that I am not an expert on everything. I love the fact that I have team members that I can turn to who can point me in the right direction when I have questions. I always enjoy gaining the trust of my team members to also utilize my strengths when needed.
9. If you could have lunch with a famous person – dead or alive – who would it be and why?
That is easy; John Legend hands down. I am a HUGE fan. I would probably spend most of the lunch trying to convince him to sing all of my favorite songs.
10. What professional field are you simply not cut out for?
I am not cut out to do any type of work that involves animals. I am one of the most scared humans alive when it comes to animals. I could never be a veterinarian or zookeeper.
