Inside Carter | Meet Taylor Crowder

Every other week we’ll profile a different member of the Carter team, giving you a little glimpse inside the personalities that make our company so robust and unique. This week we are getting to know: Taylor Crowder, intern within Carter’s development group. 1. How did you end up in this industry?
I was introduced to Real Estate Finance through the Student Foundations Investments Committee at Georgia Tech and I really loved it. I worked with GE Capital Real Estate this past summer with their originations team on the Debt Lending side, after that I was curious to see more of the development side of Commercial Real Estate.

2. What’s one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I have never traveled outside the U.S. and have only been outside the southeast twice.

3. Best part of your job here at Carter?
The opportunity to learn. With the internship program, you have the ability to see so much of the business (and there is still so much I haven’t seen). The quality of the assignments that the interns are tasked with allows us to really dive head-first into the projects, and there’s always someone there to answer questions and or give advice if we need it.

4. Who has been the most influential person in your career?
My parents. They have been the most influential people in each and every aspect of my life.

5. Where in the world are you headed on your next vacation?
After I graduate from Georgia Tech in about a month, I’m hoping to head down to Destin, or any beach for that matter, before I start my full-time job.

6. What did you want to grow up to be?
I wanted to be an Architect. My grandfather had his own firm here in Atlanta and when I was little I just loved sketching plans for my “dream homes.” I had a lot of Frank Lloyd Wright’s design books.

7. If you could have lunch with a famous person – dead or alive – who would it be and why?
Leonardo da Vinci. Assuming he could speak English or I could speak Italian, I would love to pick his brain and hear anything he has to say.

8. Are you a social media user? Which platforms?
I actually only use LinkedIn currently, but am considering returning to Facebook.

9. What’s on your bucket list that you’d like to share?
I would like to step foot on Antarctica… just something obscure that very few people can say they have done.

10. Favorite thing about Atlanta?
My favorite thing about Atlanta is the weather (we all complain, but come on). I love being outside and unlike a lot of cities, Atlanta allows me to do that pretty much year-round.
