Every month we’ll profile a different member of the Carter team, giving you a little glimpse inside the personalities that make our company so robust and unique. This week we are getting to know: TP Bullock, Vice President of Construction & Design. If you missed our last Inside Carter post, click here.
1. With unlimited funds, where would you go on your dream vacation?
I have always wanted to go to New Zealand and Australia. I love to be outdoors and New Zealand in particular is known for pioneering outdoor adventure sports, but also has incredible fly-fishing on some unbelievable rivers, which is one of my biggest passions.
2. What is one of your favorite quotes?
“Every strike brings me closer to the next home run” – Babe Ruth
3. What is your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
I love to fish and hunt, whenever I have free time I try to be outdoors either fishing or hunting with friends, some of my favorite memories come from those times.
4. If you could have a superpower for one day, what would it be?
I don’t know if you would consider it a superpower but I think that being able to time travel would be awesome, I would love to go back in time and see the what the world was really like, instead of just reading about it in history books.
5. What would you recommend someone do or see who has never been to Atlanta before?
I was born and raised in Atlanta and I always feel like people who don’t know Atlanta have very distorted views about our city. This city actually has a lot to offer and there is so much to do that even I don’t feel like I have seen or done everything. If I had to tell someone one thing to do in Atlanta, I would tell them to go to the DeKalb County Farmers Market in Decatur on a Sunday afternoon, if you get lost in the madness of that place for a few hours you can really see just how diverse and crazy Atlanta can be.
6. If you could choose any career other than the one you have, what would it be?
If I could go do anything I would probably live out west and be a flyfishing guide, although I don’t know if I could call that a career.
7. If you could pick up one random skill or hobby, what would you choose?
Golf, I have never had the time to figure out how to hit the ball straight but have always enjoyed playing so it would be fun if I could play well.
8. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The feeling you get when you finally open a building. I am always impressed by all the work and effort that goes into the process of putting a deal together, designing, and then building a project. When it all comes together at the end and the space opens, and you can see people using what you helped to create it is an unbelievably rewarding feeling.
9. If you could have lunch with a famous person – dead or alive – who would it be and why?
Bo Jackson, I have grown up an Auburn fan and went to school there, Bo is not only the best athlete to ever play at Auburn but in my opinion was also probably one of the best athletes ever. He has an incredible story and overcame so much adversity in life to be where he is, it is pretty remarkable. ESPN did a 30 for 30 episode a couple of years ago on him that is worth watching, people often think of what he did as an athlete but don’t know about him as a person and what he has done for his community.
10. What professional field are you simply not cut out for?
Being a doctor, I hate even going to the doctor so I know I could never be one.
