March Madness at Carter

Carter Employees Make Bold Bets on NCAA Tournament

March is the month of madness for college basketball fans around the country. This 68-team, three-week grind is a chance to root for the upsets, win a little prize money, and be the office champion. Here at Carter, we’re no different, and the competition is certainly heating up. Some even say that this is shaping up to be one of the more memorable months in college basketball history.

Twenty-seven Carter employees created brackets, and out of those, 10 of us predicted Louisville as the champion. So far, the tournament has been a roller coaster, with several upsets taking place in the first round. Easily the biggest upset was No. 15 seed Florida Gulf Coast beating No. 2 seed Georgetown. Out of 8.15 million brackets filled out on ESPN.com, only 1 percent selected Florida Gulf Coast to make the Sweet 16 according to USA Today.

Although no one at Carter selected Gonzaga to be out of the running so early, Jim Shelton, Carter’s vice chairman of investments, did correctly predict No. 14 seed Harvard upsetting No. 3 seed New Mexico in the first round.

Check out Carter’s current leaderboard below:

2.     Carol Nash – Asset Management (Orlando)
3.     Jim Shelton – Investments

The Final Four is set to take place in Atlanta in April. Stay tuned to find out who will take home office pool prize.
