Last Monday night, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta held a recognition dinner at Cobb Galleria Centre to honor their 2013 Volunteers of the Year. There were 23 people recognized, including Carter’s president, Scott Taylor.  More than 1,200 attended the event to honor the recipients; guests were asked to bring a non-perishable food item to help stock the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Scott has been volunteering with the YMCA of Metro Atlanta for an ongoing fifteen years, currently serving on the Metro Atlanta Executive Committee, Board Development Committee and Branch Task Force. When asked what makes the Y different from other organizations, Scott said it is the “amazing collaboration amongst staff and volunteers who share the same values and passion for making a difference.”

The theme for the evening was “The Y’s Recipe for Success”. According to Scott, the recipe for success as a Y volunteer is to “play to your strengths.” He said, “If it is programming, marketing, fundraising, finance, relationships, you name it – the Y has a place for you where everyone can make a difference and positively impact lives in our community.”

Scott is also an active member of the Atlanta Rotary Club, and serves on the Board of Directors for organizations like the Atlanta Committee for Progress.

Carter is proud of our leadership and their individual support of local charities and community programs in Atlanta!
