Tetro Student Village Out of the Ground in San Antonio

Carter Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony for Student Housing Project

Last Thursday, Carter’s project team gathered on-site with business and community leaders, representatives from both the city and school, consultants, neighbors and students for the official groundbreaking for Tetro Student Village, Carter’s newest student housing development located near the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Local media was also invited to attend.

Conor McNally, Carter’s chief development officer, opened the ceremony with an introduction of behalf of Carter, thanking the project’s partners, UTSA and the City of San Antonio, to name a few. He noted that the groundbreaking was unique due to the hard work and efforts of SpawGlass, the Texas-based general contractor responsible for Tetro’s “vertical” progress.

Next, Alex O’Brien, President of Cardinal Group Management, Tetro’s property and leasing management company, took the microphone and continued to thank attendees, as well as introduce the Tetro team.

The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce presented Tetro with an honorary plaque recognizing the project as an “investor” within the business community; Conor McNally accepted it on behalf of both Carter and Tetro.

The event concluded with tour of the project site, courtesy of SpawGlass. The Tetro Truck, the community’s innovative mobile leasing center, was also on-site offering virtual tours and information.

The San Antonio Business Journal reported, “From the beginning, the goal with Tetro has been to create something different for UTSA students.” Additionally, FOX 29 News (San Antonio) was in attendance with camera crew in tow. GlobeSt.com and Student Housing Business also covered the event.

The celebration continued into Thursday night for the grand opening party, held at nearby bar & restaurant, Espana Bar de Tapas. Tetro sponsored college night for an estimated 300+ attendees and featured exciting giveaways including Coachella tickets, Beats headphones and flat screen TVs.

Tetro will provide UTSA students with a community-focused living experience unlike any other. The 16-acre community will include flats-style apartments and townhomes built around a “town center” of amenities. Tetro is currently accepting leases for Fall 2014.

Tetro’s leasing team provided us with an update: it is over 15% leased and has over 100 executed leases; the 3-bedroom suite has been the most popular floor plan to rent.
