ABOUT THE PROJECT

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) selected Carter to undertake an innovative transit oriented development on 47 acres surrounding the MARTA Lindbergh Station in Atlanta’s premier Buckhead market. As master developer, Carter ground leased the land from MARTA and created a vibrant, urban mixed-use plan for the project. Carter initially constructed infrastructure, parking facilities, and approximately 1.1 million square feet of office and retail.

Approximately 700 residential units were added by the Harold A. Dawson Company, as was additional office space. The site is phased for additional residential and office uses. Today, the development is a vibrant live, work, and play community.

Carter’s undertaking in this project was one of the first true transit-oriented developments in the country, and it is an outstanding example of public-private collaboration. It speaks to Carter’s expertise in understanding and planning mixed-use environments, as well as incorporating the necessary balance between the various uses so that a development can be successful.
