Agnes Scott College Campbell Hall Renovation
After a long-standing history with Agnes Scott, Carter was once again entrusted to provide program management services and guide the design and construction for Campbell Hall, a four-story former science building that was transformed into an innovative living and learning community center under Carter’s leadership.
The new Campbell Hall houses approximately ninety students in suite-style rooms. About half of the building is devoted to academic classrooms and learning centers, a small theater with stadium seating and conference and collaboration space.
In April 2015 Campbell Hall received an Award for Excellence in Sustainable Rehabilitation from The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation. Campbell Hall is now the most energy-efficient building on campus, compliments of a new hybrid geothermal system which will heat and cool the building. A geothermal well field was constructed in the green quadrangle adjacent to the building, utilizing forty wells, each up to 600 feet deep, to exchange heat energy.
