Agnes Scott Dining Hall

Decatur, GA

As part of a long-standing relationship with Agnes Scott, Carter was selected to act as program manager on the $10.3 million renovation and expansion of the Evans Dining Hall. The project, which was part of the school’s overall $135 million building program, included a list of improvements to meet the growing needs of the institution. Construction was completed on a fast-track basis in just nine months, requiring only a one semester shut-down of the facility. Renovated features included:

  • Increased building square footage by 7,500 SF
  • Improved lighting
  • All new MEP systems throughout the facility
  • Additional space for food service
  • Improved acoustic and audiovisual support
  • Increased dining seating capacity to 400 seats
  • Enlarged President’s dining room space
  • Storage
  • New windows and exterior facade restoration

The overall concept included the creation of a conference center and banquet space on the lower level to provide additional support for the outreach services provided by the college. This space was equipped with modular walls so that space could be sectioned off as needed per the particular facility use. The project was completed on time and under budget, with a savings of $500,000 returned to the Owner.
