Carter advises on development of strategic 155-acre site for Clayton County

The Clayton County Office of Economic Development was anxious to rekindle the activity at the former Gateway Village, a 155-acre assemblage of land located across from Clayton State University and the National and State Archives buildings. Conceived as an ambitious mixed-use project prior to the onset of the recession, the project was in need of reevaluation and a new strategic direction. In 2010, Carter was selected to perform strategic consulting, master planning, pre-development, and marketing and public relations services to lay the groundwork for future development. By working closely with key public and private stakeholders, Carter analyzed the market, conducted feasibility studies, and led the creation of a new master plan for the site.

The project was also renamed University Station and Carter led the creation of a marketing campaign for the new project, which included a website, marketing collateral and public relations services. To ready the site for redevelopment, Carter performed due diligence activities and transformed phases of the project into pad ready sites. Throughout the project, Carter managed the budget, which came from bonds issued by the Development Authority, managed the project timeline and provided timely reports to various constituencies. With the project completed, the Development Authority is now prepared to market the project and begin signing up tenants.
